Obviously in this case shareholders of BMN.
The ANZ was dumping stock of some companies at up to a 50% discount.
Transpose that to BMN and that puts the SP at less than $1.
Add to that the panic selling by others and the Sp could go thru the floor.
By calling a trading halt, BMN management have bought time.
Time to assess the situation, and if necessary, time to negotiate with the liquidators of Opes Prime.
And if absolutely necesary time to find a white knight.
