I think trading in CFD is better because you can buy/sell to the CFD provider any time (the risk being the CFD provider using your money to hedge his position instead of using his own money).
In case of RBS Minis/ASX CFDs/ASX Minis unless you find a willing byuer/seller in the market you are stuck up.
IMO liquidity (volume) should be the important consideration in trading minis
