trading software, page-3

First of all what do you mean by trading software?

    There is charting software.
That may include back testing, portfolio management and
fundamental data. live, delayed and EOD.
Most charting software has various data packages.

For delayed data, my preferred data (20min delayed), is for the chart to update when you click to it and then update the whole package at the end of the day.
Other packages are delayed but you update each hour, then at the end of the day. Some packages allow you to have live data for a month, then change back to delayed.

    There are trading platforms.
This includes live data, etc and watch list facilities,
that highlight price sensitive info. coming from ASX.

Some charting software packages such as Bull Charts do not have a back tester. So you add Tradesim, which will link with the software.

I think you need to list what you need or want, so people can understand what you need.
If you intend to build and test strategy's which include CAGR, maxDD, MAR, exposure, Win/Loss Ratio etc, I suggest you join a forum such as the chartists.

I will add a screen shot of a section of the above forum.
    Then the link.

I have not been through the many pages of education in HC, because all the threads are bundled up. With new HC it will make more sense. i.e. one thread or discussion will have all the posts stacked behind it.

On the chartists site all the talk is about trading etc, not c**p.

One point. Not all software packages have a balanced supply of tools. i.e. might be good charting, with a back tester, but poor fundamentals, and so on.
Some have great charting, but have propriety indicators you have to buy.
Incredible Charts is a low priced charting system with no strategy tester for instance, but has a scanner.

Some packages include the Elliott wave indicator.

So if you know what process you want to trade, or a bit of each process. Then list it, and then people maybe able to help.

Amibroker with premium data and Tradesim are popular in the links I have added.

    cheers
