The annual accounts are fine for your accountant. However, many people like to know their financial position on a more frequent basis and a spreadsheet such as this helps in keeping track of your buy and sells, the amounts and the date... it adds up all my buys and sells, shows my current profit that has been locked in for tax purposes etc..
