ANZ cash profit up 6.2pc to $1.53bn

ANZ has reported a first quarter net profit of $1.36 billion, down 20 per cent on last year.
Cash profit, the measure most closely watched by analysts, was up 6.2 per cent for the quarter at $1.53 billion.
The bank’s chief executive Mike Smith said that domestic conditions remained soft but that ANZ’s market share rose in household mortgages and deposits.
