Speaking to Automic, they say only Commsec can do the transfer, however it is vital to ensure all details of name and address are perfect.
Ringing Automic, they can at least view the HRN that you have with Commsec to check that the details are the same at both ends. My address had the suburb and postcode written twice for some reason and it would not marry up, so that had to be fixed.

Commsec said only after it lists will transfer be available and that transfer will take two days to happen (a type of bureaucratic escrow I suppose )
