i have a different slant on this.
could it just be pensioners buying in ultra small amounts with their "leftovers" after shopping on the coveted pension day?
regardless of what everyone thinks- pensioners do not just throw their extra money away on scratchies, gold lotto and pokies.
some of them invest for their future , even it means saving for entry into the nursing home of their choice.
