Your comparison to WMT/BHP is farcical. No I would not expect BHP to announce a halt for a project that is a minor part of their portfolio. My comments do not in any way relate to that sort of example.

My comments about MZM/GPN however are valid. Firstly the project is 70%/30%, not 80%/20%. Secondly, MZM arguably have as many if not more projects on the go than GPN. The point is, if calling a trading halt, you are assuming that the announcement may have a material and substantial effect on the value of the company. Now if this was the case for MZM then surely it would potentially also have an effect on GPN. A decent company-changing announcement for MZM would would surely have an effect on another minnow explorer? All I am pointing out is it seems unusual for MZM to announce a trading halt and not GPN under these circumstances.

After the announcement, I am scratching my head as to why they announced a halt in the first place.
