@simgrund - sitting out on my back terrace today - I suddenly had an inspiration for your poem: with some amendments, losing some words - it would fit that wonderful song: 'Drei Zigeuner fand ich einmal, liegen auf einer Weide" (Three gypsies I once found, resting in a meadow) I have always thought it's by Mendelsohn Bartholdi but not, in fact the composer is one Theodor Meyer-Steineg: poet: Lenau
