There is nothing or cultural or religious about what has happened in Cairns.

The advent of the baby bonus gave rise to a prolific baby business amongst the poorer sections of our community. Babies were born in prolific numbers so that welfare would then help these families subsist.

We now have two generations of neglected children with absolutely no regard for family or society - and their numbers are noticeable. The end result is alcohol, drugs, child abuse, drugs and consequently crime.

Unfortunately, this situation is self perpetuating.

Yesterday's abused children are today's abusers

This problems is getting exponentially bigger and we are going to see more of it - so lets get used to it.

We have a ticking time bomb up here in Cairns of 10-11 kids left to their own devices to commit petty crimes.

Add drugs and alcohol to the mix and you have a a recipe for a social time bomb when they get older.
