my question for this would be what was the retiree's balance for that sort of fee. a fee of that size is more likely over $2m atleast not $300k or smaller.
plus - any good financial adviser provides a statement of advice which states any fees payable including contribution fees or trail commissions.
at the end of the day if the member is diligent there should be no suprises come end of year with regards to fees.
