curios dannyf as to what is decent for you. The reason why I ask is that the professors figures are based on a historic average. I have raised the point that the historic average does not reflect the structural change in the increased size and quality of houses that has occurred overtime. Today, the standard house is 4 beds, family room, double garage. designer kitchen.
I assume that this is your decent home. given that this is some 50-60% bigger than some 20 years ago, relainace on the stat is misleading. if you are looking at the same sized house upon which the average is based then that aint a problem.
A "decent" home for me is the following:
- something within the Brisbane city limits
- at least 3 bedrooms
- at least 1 bathroom
- close to public transport
- enough of a backyard for a hills hoist
- no asbestos
Preferrably under 6 years average wages (so under $360k).
I couldn't give a stuff about 4 bed, 2 bath rendered overpriced rubbish dumps.
I just want something I can raise a family in, and perhaps build another bedroom on to.
