Ive been trading for awhile not sure to this question:
Over the last 5 years Ive traded some 200+ diff stocks. At any one time, i usually hold 5-6 stocks (could be for 1 day, could be for a few months).
Im wondering, if I should keep 2 single shares of each stock I sell. One share for me, and then transfer the other to the wife.
The idea being is that if there are any future SPP's for any stock Ive ever held, by having one stock makes my wife and me eligible for the SPP.
Otherwise I would not have participcated in most of the SPP's as more than likely I would not be holding that share anymore.
ie recently Ive missed the VPG SPP by a few days.
My thoughts being if I had kept 2 VPG stocks, then both my wife and me would be eligible for the SPP. The added bonus is if there are cutbacks in allocation, Id double my allocation.
Id think the benfits would far outweigh the cost of holding 2 share in some 200+ stocks.
Your thoughts?
