Cheers manyana, in the pic you will notice a small reservoir above Coalcliff. It supplies water to the foot of the cliff for use in the coal pit.
Right there you have your basic requirements for a PHES..
Some time in the future, a decision will need to be made on whether coal mining in that naturally blessed location is still worthwhile.
There would not be many places in the world that has such an outstanding PHES resource so close to two cities with a combined population of five million plus.
It is not as if coal isn’t being mined anywhere else.
