Hmm .. I have 2 problems with that comment ..
1 .. How do you PROVE the ability to plug a leak like that, if it's never been done at that depth of 5,000 ft?
2 .. Does that mean we humans should not TRY to drill at that depth ? Would Man have successfully explored our planet, or walked on the moon if we do not TRY ?

In 2009, the Montara Oil Well in Timor Sea off NWAust had to be shut down by drilling Relief Wells about a mile below the sea floor ...
The Thunderhorse Well in the Gulf of Mexico was drilled to similar depths of 5,000 ft as the leaking BP Macondo well in Gulf of Mexic. Thunderhosre was drilled about 3-4 years ago and today is a successful producing well ..
