Hi Ikeymoses,
The thing the ASX need to realise is that the stock market needs retail investors.
Good fundamentals dont mean squat anymore in the short or medium term. Researching companies and investing your hard earned does not quite have the same satisfaction as it did before bots entered the market.
A companies worth today is all dependent on the algo bot traders. Simple as that!
There needs to be a shift in the balance of power if the ASX is too remain profitable over the long term.
The ASX is losing lustre and im of the opinion retail investors are leaving the sharemarket in droves.
Its like Woolworths giving quality produce only to wealthy shoppers and leaving the middle and low income owners to fight over scraps. Soon those middle and lower income owners will look for alternatives.
ASX need to look ahead of the curve cause things are not sitting too pretty for them. Why not invest in property here or overseas or just whack your money in a term deposit. It will probably be more profitable and at least you will feel like you are in control of your capital.
As far as CDU is concerned, it continues to be manipulated. The ASX will continue to ignore the indicators and retail investors will continue to exit the sharemarket. WM is working hard for us retial investors and I have faith in him. I also believe in the resource so im staying the course, but like you say many others will not.
There needs to be an investigation. The ASX needs to be seen as being proactive for all the retail investors out there and CDU seems to be the perfect company to investigate, starting on the 18th August 2010.
