Lots of ifs and buts but house sitting may be a option. Just worried not knowing age etc how you can be a travel newbie or are you just a traveling for work newbie?
Other option is you place add on gumtree etc saying you want 4 weeks in Perth City for example between x to x dates approx, XX age , Professional needing accommodation for contract , offer references etc and you will be surprised as people going on a month overseas will like the bonus $ and the fact their house is occupied 4 weeks etc. Can pick up on first phone call if you want to deal with them and from photos work out if it is suitable. Some people will never advertise as they concerned by tax implications etc but do look to have their granny flat rented.
With house sitting start now in your own town and then get a reputation and you will be surprised what is available . I know people who have house sat everything from boats to thousands of acres farms and mine site to prevent prospectors/ thieves . Looked after a goldfish and daily checked troughs for cattle . Haven't paid rent in years as one job rolls into another . Biggest problem has been escaping afterwards and moving on as often soon as you get known every neighbour wants you next or next year etc and there is amazing networks as many have city apartments and houses empty 90% of time. Some have become great long term friends and regular annual clients.
Really depends on your work life mix. Early in business I could never have fitted in doing stuff when I traveled a lot as every hour billed was important chasing the $ but later it was a different mix.
If you are handy for a country region , like pets are responsible etc whole world is your oyster .
