don, if you had any first hand knowledge of Singapore it would be clear to you that under PM Goh there was considerable liberalisation and easing of the laws that had been neccessary during the stormy early days of independence. You only have to look at earlier copies of the Straits Times and compare them to more recent ones and the change is obvious.
