Hi muzzarati
Yes I am against super trawlers but I am also against 10 small trawlers in it's place.
I have seen the depletion of stocks around the Queensland Coast through overfishing and now we have another area to deplete.
I realize that people work in the industry and so there are jobs BUT the vast majority of fish caught in Australian waters is exported, the last figure I saw was in the 90% region, so once again, "what is the benefit to Australia"
When they say the science is sound, is this actual facts and figures or as was said a computer model?
There is no prediction scientific or otherwise which is 100% correct, they are at best a calculated guess and any scientist that says otherwise is playing with words.
So get back to the bottom line, heavy fishing is bad, the fish will be exported, is the company predominately an overseas company and where do the profits go?
What is the benefit to Australia in exchange for our fish?
