Having worked for the Panguna Mine and lived there for 6 years, please be very careful in investing in this company with the view that it will re-open in the near future.
Riotinto (major shareholder of BOC) now invests the remaining BOC assets in PNG & Aust. equities and appears to have no intention of re-opening. There is still an incredible amount of militant action occurring on Bougainville and it would take a very brave company to open up that can of worms again. The infrastructure to and of the mine site has all but ruined. The road (which in the 70's) cost a million a mile to build has been bombed. So too the electricity towers, the homes and offices, also the concentrator etc have all been destroyed.
