My wife just called me and told me that one of our good family friends has a young fella who has just been diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy. I know nothing about it and have not come across anyone with it.

I wondered whether people on HC had any knowledge of the condition and could advise where to start looking for treatment options and/or possible clinical trials. Obviously there are doctors and they have been speaking to them to obtain the diagnosis but my experience tells me that sometimes there are emerging treatment options that fly under the radar and are effective.

The family don't come from money, so are already starting behind the 8 ball and he is a lovely little boy. I know life is full of heartbreaking stories but I thought I would ask - the medical knowledge on this forum is always very sound.

I’d be getting in touch with the patient advocacy group relevant to the condition. There is a Muscular dystrophy group here in Australia

Such a group would be able to tell you what clinical trials are currently happening in Australia, but here is a link I found below
