Thanks for the responses, folks. I had one more thought....if I wanted to orchestrate a successful re-rating of Valad, wouldn't I wait until a sharply positive day was in the offing? I mean, why would you make an ann or jolt the sp forward on a day when the market is blah? You wouldn't if you had the choice (unlike Myer yesterday!).

As I write, Europe is up between 1 and 1.5% and all signs are for a good day on Wall St as well. Could they have been waiting for the "perfect storm" scenario before letting this fly?

Less than 11 hours to test my thinking. Now it's time for bed.
