Looks like that broad side might have happened. Halls Creek Council website reports that the Sturt Creek crossing east of Billiluna is 'impassable due to crossing failure'. I guess that means the Tanami road is now out of action from the West (and closed again to the East of OP as far as I can see).

The only image I can find on Google shows Sturt Crossing as a short causeway, although I gather the entire crossing is up to 1.6km wide in flood.

Does anyone know what the crossing is like firsthand and if the causeway is washed out, how significant a project it would likely be to replace or at least temporarily repair?

One thing is for sure, there will be no heavy vehicles coming from WA for a while if the crossing is badly damaged.

Might be time to top up again :-(
