Yup....you have to be a navigator and ships captain.....spherical trigonometry does not work on a flat surface and vice versa.
And trust me....do not try to learn spherical trigonometry - its really not worth it anymore (until the chinese wipe out all the GPS satellites) - or the Americans just turn them off.
