Its pretty simple when you look at the history of Black Rock and other simular companies

May or may not be them but they and plenty like them are notorious for manipulating prices of companies or allowing there shares on behalf of another institution to do the same . Look at the notices from around 6-9 months back of what they did to FMG for some history on this

Anyway , 2 reasons this is happening and a simple reason they can get away with it
1) They want to accumulate shares for as cheap as possible and they have the volume of shares and skills to pull it off without to much detection
2) Someone wants the price as low as possible so any potential takeover bid at a low offer is considered by shareholders . Most analysts agree that 12-15 cents is currently its value and was its value only a few weeks back . If the price is 8 cents and we get a 12-15 cent offer that's a great premium , if the price is 12 cents and we get a 12 cent offer all the shareholders say jam it !!!

Finally the reason they can do it now is the market has shat itself over the last few months , there are lots of other external issues like copper price , money and investment moving out of the aussie market and our aussie funds or investors wouldn't be able to prop it up or see value in it as its outside of the ASX300

That allows them to push it down as low as they like with no resistance and then you get the peanut gallery stating its going to 5 cents and then people panic and sell , stop losses are triggered while all along the buying continues .

Nothing is 'simple' with stocks as you state BPAA however i concur with what you say to a degree. Worth noting that none of the AVB cheer squad allowed for this possibility prior. To counteract there has been an increase in investing in small caps of late in the US and as the blue chip yield stocks get hammered punters are looking elsewhere.
