Dave, I see your point and it is valid that the price of base metals is very likely to drop in the future when the Chinse secure their supply from a wider resources base. however i think that's exactly where the risk is for blue chips, such as BHP, or even FMG, because their current SP is based on the valuation with current high commodity prices.
With speculative stocks, the risk is on whether the mine can be profitably developed given lower metal prices, no profits expection has been factored into current SP yet.
