This report clearly shows the extent of the largest known oil reserves on Earth..Venezuela, the Orinoco oil-belt. The map clearly shows that huge oil reserves in the Guerico Sub-basin, that encompasses the two islands of Trinidad and Tobago! Looking at the map, clearly you can see the masses of 'hot-spots' that are predominant over most of Trinidad.
"Trinidad is a very oily country", and it is no wonder that BP are here, and intend to stay?
