I just heard on the radio, that telstra's emergency 000 are not working in the flood affected areas people in those areas need to call these alternate numbers (just wondering most mobile phones will dial 000, even if they have no credit on them, so god help those people) if you have family in those areas, you should call them and give them the alternate numbers below or organise credit for their mobile phones so they can call
If you need to contact Triple-Zero and can’t use an alternative carrier you should:
1. Dial Triple Zero (000); 2. If Triple Zero is unavailable dial the number closest to your locality (see below table);

3. If you are unable to make contact through either Triple Zero or the alternative numbers you should attend your local Police, Fire or Ambulance station or hospital if safe to travel
