I heard this, this morning on Triple J news and followed up further. It is interesting that the big funds are now investing in the US market as opposed to home grown housing. I know the article states that 'projects' type housing isnt a thing here in Australia. However, I would be keen to know how much capital for private developments is also heading overseas from Australian funds. I know these are more like the bond end of the housing risk matrix, as they offer government backed lower returns on investment, yet still it does make you wonder how a similar idea couldn't be forwarded here?
I think this could be another warning sign that the big funds/banks are loosing faith in their own backyard and are looking to diversify into a market that hit its bottom some years back and now has space to grow. This is very unlike the ever escalating Australian bubble.
