It is on the expensive side, the last top 10 Australian gold mine that was sold was the Superpit (labelled as Golden Mile above) for $2.245 Bil AUD. SAR paid 1.1Bil for its 50% and NST paid $1.145Bil for the other 50%. 100% owned now after the SAR + NST merger.
What makes this expensive to me in comparison is that the Superpit has almost twice the Reserve ounces that Tropicana has. But lets not jump to conclusions until we see the official numbers reported to the market, this purchase can't be as bad as NCMs Red Chris that's for sure.
