Are you perhaps talking about young people doing a difficult, low paid, front line job as best they can to generate profits for shareholders?
exactly!! i myself was once a young person working for the 'man' in the role of a sales assistant in a hardware store during my school holidays.
i had no idea about anything let alone hardware and just referred to the customer's inquiries to the head honcho.
ps- but, and this is a BIG butt, i always just smiled and treated the customer as being right.
i thought i would be sacked for this, but to my surprise, the boss guy was so impressed, he gave me an extra $5, which was 25% of my weekly wage.
anyway, after that, i joined the public service, because thanks to him, he said i was a 'natural' in that sort of endeavor.
