These kind of infrastructure developments are an absolute no brainer. Every country in the world that wants to be competitive is investing heavily in infrastructure. Why does Australia wait until demand surges and bottlenecks arise before investing. Cant we have some foresight?
I think pressure will build and this rail extension will go ahead. Over time there will be various options for scaling the project up once the resource has been drilled out. The relative simplicity of mining phosphate is a key to this.
