Sadly, CTP just could not afford the second half of Mereenie. RC really tried. Couldn't get big shareholder support. Couldn't borrow the money either. A significant factor in his endorsement of the takeover offer.
If it is any comfort, MCQ would struggle to sell it to anyone but CTP as CTP is operator. I see no conceivable synergies with any other gas producer.
