Not a happy MLX holder either, given share price over past few days and reaction today.
The announcement offers nothing for MLX shareholders. We already had exposure to WGR, and anyone who thought it a good buy could have bought shares on market cheaper for themselves.
Why the share price hit? Because it looks to be driven by a desire for scale primarily. Bigger doesn't automatically mean better, or more profitable.
