Fake news, it was all military aged men illegally crossing the border by destroying baracades. If you watch the video you can see one of their minders order them to retreat as soon as the tear gas was fired. The women and children were still being detained by the Mexican police when all this happened, perhaps the crying children were just sick of being used as pawns?
