If that is actually the case, then why in hell did the Democrats go down the impeachment road when there was no hope of getting a conviction.
When you look back on all that has happened since 2016, the Democrats would have been much better off now if they had just accepted that Trump had won and fought him on policy grounds.
They've used up all their gunpowder on wild goose chases. They look like spoilt brats who didn't get their own way. They have lost mountains of credibility. It's probably too late to change tack now and it would be seen as super cynical. I can't believe that they were dumb enough to carry on with this rubbish right into an election year. They should have just dumped it all at least 6 months ago.
Unfortunately for the them, they have well and truly painted themselves into a corner. Their hatred of Trump and self entitlement has blinded them to a proper course of action.
The main game here should have been to win the presidential race, not play chess with a master tactician.
