The only thing more dangerous than the average idiot is an average idiot with unlimited power! Very dangerous- Trump has literally just said 'virtually no one is affected by Covid'. While also attacking China again for releasing the virus. The Chinese response was very measured imo and pointed out the USA should focus on protecting its people.
People talk about the numbers as they stand but USA will in the next few months start transitioning into flu season which if you have a look at places where community incidence started very low- like Victoria you would have to think the second USA wave is going to be a lot bigger in magnitude- given the Trump wind back and pivoting from the 'it will magically disappear' message to its not a big deal anyway- virtually no one is affected! The run in to the election is going to be interesting in this context as although Trump has wound back the testing and manages the numbers to a degree I will be interesting to see his approach if the virus really gets going; which Trump has really done a lot to make happen. This was pointed out by the Chinese response to his UN attack.
Unfortunately for the rest of US Trumps main distraction left is ramping up tension with China and slomo will puppy dog along behind.
