We will need to wait and see the final text of Stage 1, but it appears as though it will address in detail rolling back China's forced technology transfer policies. This is would be a significant coup for the USA if it can be secured. IMO previous administrations have not gotten far with these issues because they haven't pulled the levers Trump has.

IMO a person would need to be quite naive to believe the USA winding back the currency manipulator tag has nothing to do with Stage 1 appearing like it's about to be signed. Again, leverage in negotiations is key.
