Fact is that Given the appeals court has not handed down their verdict and when the do stating Criminal Defendant Trump doesn't have immunity he will appeal to SCOTUS so with the Trial scheduled to start in 4 weeks time it's just not practical to keep that date.
There is no question the appeals court will rule Criminal Defendant Trump doesn't have immunity, and I doubt SCOTUS will take up the appeal give how absurd the immunity claim is. Remember Jack Smith tried to get SCOTUS to rule on it ahead of the appeals court and they knocked it back.
It's a joke that the courts even have to consider the immunity argument but there is no precedent and that is how the justice system works.
