"Jack Smith Objects to Trump Seeking Stay from Supreme Court"

Special prosecutor Jack Smith was given until next week to file his response to Trump seeking to stay his criminal trial pending a possible review by the Supreme Court on his immunity claim. But Smith wasted no time and filed it immediately.
Smith argued that the crimes in this case "strike at the heart of our democracy... Appellant seeks a stay to prevent proceedings in the district court from moving towards trial, which the district court had scheduled to begin on March 4, 2024... Appellant cannot show, as he must to merit a stay, a fair prospect of success in this court."
