It's true that sometimes criminals can feel remorse/regret, apologise, and then change their behaviour to start helping others.
But an unrepentant criminal is just someone looking for the next sucker to commit their next crime on.
Trump doesn't appear to have even accepted he's committed a crime, definitely shows no sign of remorse, and so I would suggest that anyone who trusts him would be lining up like a lamb to the slaughter.
