The flag and national anthem are usually respected by a countries citizens. However, sometimes when despots and tyrants make a mockery of what the flag and national anthem stands for it is understandable that some people will protest that.
When people within a whats supposed to a democracy are marginalised they may protest the fact that those in control are not living up to the symbolism the flag and national anthem is supposed to represent. The Constitution of a country and democratic processes and rule of law are the things that underpin the values of a flag and national anthem but when a rabid bad mouthed buffoon like Trump disrespects the Constitution, democratic processes and rule of law and the values they enshrine then it's Ok for people to protest that such person has debased both the flag and the content of the national anthem.
This President is bringing the USA into disrepute. He calls some of the USA sporting champions “Sons of bitches” and calls for them to be sacked. In doing so he demeans the rights of the players, he demeans women, he demeans mothers, and even as President he shows he has not improved or toned down from the times he demeaned women with his “grab em by the pussy” lewd remarks.
The USA is in danger and the danger is called Donald Trump! IMO!
