Hey guys, seeing a bit of panic so I thought I'd start a thread on this. I looked into it a few weeks back to relieve my own concerns.
This executive order only effects Medicare, not Medicade (this is what we are affected by). It can only be a "trial" to see how it works.
Any broader overall change to Medicare and Medicade pricing will need to be approved by congress. A REPUBLICAN CONGRESS. These guys traditionally don't like government overreach affecting free markets.
This also has nothing to do with private health insurance companies, only government Medicare. It could however affect there pricing in the future when it comes to negotiating contracts.
Pharmaceutical companies will fight to the death to keep pricing high. the courts may also have something to say. Also congress people will need to take into account the benefits of higher drugs prices, like the benefits of innovation and the US having access to new drugs first.
So It's business as usual until congress has a say, don't fall for the headlines.
