In all fairness I find excuses for 90% of the Libs blunders and Eagle would do the same for 99.99% of Labor's (crazy and outrageous) policies...maybe Trump's narrative is cutting through with the people out there that aren't fundamentally really affiliated to any of those 2 sides, given he borrows from both sides (how do you reconcile protectionism in the name of bringing blue collar jobs back with cutting insurance coverage for over 20m people?).
I know it's slightly more complicated than that, but they are just batting for their man I guess.
