Sorry to break it to you.Taylor Swift's election endorsement has notmotivated Americans to vote for her, research says
US-based university research into the influence ofTaylor Swift on the presidential election has found the pop star's endorsementof Kamala Harris has not motivated people to vote for the Vice President.
University of St Mary researcher Dr Mark Harvey andacademics from Oklahoma University and Hutchinson College conducted a 1000person survey asking whether or not a Taylor Swift endorsement would make adifference in the election.
He said preliminary results found Swift'sendorsement of the democratic nominee "resulted in fewer people wanting tovote for Harris and people not being as interested in Taylor Swift because shetook sides".
"That's what [the research] says and it's alsonot inconsistent with what a lot of the academic literature says as well,"Harvey said.
"Sometimes when celebrities make endorsementsit reflects badly on that celebrity and it doesn't help the person they'reendorsing."
Harvey is the author of 'Celebrity Influence' astudy into the impact of famous faces on US election campaigns.
