Despite the fake headline/thread topic, it wouldn't surprise me if Trump does in fact decide not to run for re-election: - he's old, and mentally burnt out. I don't know if other people notice this much, but President Trump's off-the-cuff comments (as opposed to scripted speeches) have become steadliy more moronic and inarticulate in the last 4 years - from a low enough base. - if the democrats choose Joe Biden - and that's looking pretty likely - the one and only factor in Biden's arsenal is "I'm not Trump", but if Trump doesn't run, then suddenly Joe Biden looks like a meaningless choice. - if Trump steps aside for someone he can claim as his choice - a younger, less-sleazy Republican, who wins the 2020 election against an old and irrelevant Joe Biden, Trump will leave the scene proclaiming his Eternal Genius.
