Even in his last days the Don gets his way.

The United States House of Representatives has overwhelmingly voted to increase COVID-19 relief cheques to $US2,000, meeting President Donald Trump's demand for bigger payments.
    Key points:

    • The vote is a reversal of similar ones days before where many Republicans voted against it
    • The bill will now go to the Republican-led Senate for a vote
    • The House has also voted to override US President Donald Trump's defence veto
The vote was led by Democrats, but dozens of Republicans suddenly joined in approval to see the bill pass 275-134.
Congress had earlier settled on smaller $US600 payments in a compromise over the relief bill, but Democrats who had long been pushing for bigger relief cheques used the rare point of agreement with the President to advance the proposal.
