@pints; I agree with you that violence /attempted assassinations such as that directed at former US President Donald Trump today [AEST] should play NO part in society. In reality for the USA it always has been and it seems highly likely that it always will be.
Let's not forget the forerunner to this appalling attack on Trump - the 2021 January 6th Insurrection in which many people were killed and others' lives ruined forever as would-be-assassins roamed the corridors of power in search of Nancy Pelosi and Mike Pence.
Apparently unlike some on this forum though I don't limit my beliefs to privileged people like Donald Trump, Nany Pelosi and Mike Pence - unlike those who worship America's gun lobby I'm also utterly sickened by the slaughter of children in American schools ... innocent kids who don't have scores of heavily armed security guards to protect them.
Unlike those who slap the backs of US weapons manufacturers I'm also sickened by the slaughter of Palestinian children by Netanyahu's US resourced genocidal regime.
