I think the difference of opinions we have about the "orange man", comes down to those that look past shallow external "book cover", the "optics" or perceived "panache" of the individual, and instead align themselves with the deeper intentions and deeds of the MAGA movement headed by Trump. If Trump disappeared, some other MAGA leader would fill his shoes. It's not so much about liking Trump, as it is recognition of how the USA and UK were spiraling down the gurgler, offshoring and outsourcing all sorts of important national security considerations, from information technology to manufacturing, to the shutting down of power plants before renewable replacements were set up correctly, uncontrolled immigration, etc.. All sorts of 'own goals' for absolutely no good reason. Trump comes along and says "This is stupid, why are we destroying ourselves? Let us Make America Great Again!". And ordinary people resonate with that message, knowing full well that this oldest president, this man from a business background with the weird hair and orange makeup, who talks a bit like Elon Musk (not smoothly) is THE REAL DEAL, not a puppet. It's that simple.
