isolationaism is a very old theme in US politics going back as far at least as the early days of ww1 and the US oscilates between this and the other extreme of being the worlds policeman
I believe ideally a balance in their foreign policy should be struck
trump is a very selfish individual and projects that into his very uncaring views on foreign policy .....but this is not the mainstream US voters view ....I KNOW , the the US voter wanted support for Ukraine for instance.....Johnson never changed his tune on that out of the goodness of his heart but because of political necessity .
